SHAH ALAM – Sinar Daily's "Choose Your Hard" University Tour is set to make its way to the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in Gombak on Jan 14 and 15.

This two-day event is designed to address the growing mental health challenges faced by Generation Z, particularly in navigating the pressures of social media, academic demands and societal expectations.

With over 70 per cent of Gen Z reporting struggles with anxiety, depression or stress, many of these challenges are linked to the relentless pressures of online comparison and the pervasive nature of social media.

Tragically, studies show that this generation also experiences the highest levels of suicidal ideation, with one in four young adults seriously considering suicide in the past year.

Sinar Daily’s initiative seeks to break the stigma surrounding mental health and empower students to confront life’s difficulties with resilience, informed choices and support.

The "Choose Your Hard" University Tour will provide students with a unique opportunity to engage in activities promoting mental well-being.

These activities include thought-provoking film documentaries, confession sessions, mindfulness treasure hunts and interactive trivia games, all designed to offer practical techniques for managing stress and building mental toughness.

Students will have access to mental health screenings provided by Azzahrah Hospitals, offering further resources for support and guidance.

Influencers and mental health professionals will also participate in the tour, sharing their experiences, insights and coping strategies in Speakers' Corners and confession sessions.

These sessions aim to foster open dialogue on mental health, helping to dismantle the stigma while encouraging students to seek help and connect with others facing similar struggles.

Exciting prizes will be awarded to participants, including RM400, RM200 and RM100 vouchers for those who excel in the Mindfulness Treasure Hunt.

A variety of other prizes will also be available throughout the event.
