Beyoncé's foundation donating US$2.5 million to LA fire victims

The money is earmarked to support families in the Altadena and Pasadena neighbourhoods who have lost their homes.

WASHINGTON - US superstar Beyoncé is donating US$2.5 million to help those affected by the Los Angeles fires through her foundation Beygood, reported German news agency dpa.

"Los Angeles we stand with you," said a post by the foundation on Instagram late Sunday.

The money is earmarked to support families in the Altadena and Pasadena neighbourhoods who have lost their homes.

Churches and community centres that support those affected in the region will also receive donations.

The wildfires have killed at least 24 people and left behind widespread destruction over the past week. Metrologists are warning that expected high winds could further fan the flames in the coming days. - BERNAMA-dpa
