SHAH ALAM - A 23-year-old man battling end-stage kidney failure has expressed his deep gratitude to his father for saving his life.

Recalling his critical condition, Muhamad Firdaus Rosly shared that doctors had informed him surgery was his only option to survive, but the wait for a donor could take up to 20 years.

"That’s when my dad made the decision to donate his kidney to me.

"Initially, I hesitated because of his age and thyroid condition. I worried something might happen to him. But my dad couldn’t bear to see me suffer through Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD), a painful and exhausting process,” he told Sinar on Saturday.

The kidney transplant, which involved Firdaus' father, Rosly Delniah, 56, took nearly a year to complete due to the hospital’s strict procedural requirements.

Remembering the moment his father offered to donate his kidney, Firdaus admitted feeling a mixture of sadness, gratitude, and disbelief.

"Even now, I feel I can never repay what Dad has done for me. I remember apologising for all my mistakes, and he told me it was okay. He said this was for my future and that he would do anything for me,” he said.

The surgery, which took place in November, lasted four hours for Rosly and five hours for Firdaus.

"Alhamdulillah, because of him, I can now live life as I did before.

"Thank you, dad. Insya-Allah, I will do my best to make both my parents happy and fulfill my dream of taking them for Umrah,” he added.

Firdaus also encouraged those with kidney issues not to fear dialysis, stressing its importance in maintaining health.
