SHAH ALAM – A property reviewer has expressed concern over a condominium management’s attempt to silence his honest evaluations, alleging that they requested the removal of a video critical of their property.
The reviewer, known on Instagram as @staywokeprop, has garnered attention for his insider tips and approximately 40 videos offering transparent property reviews.
In several videos on his account, the property reviewer shared honest and detailed reviews of condominiums across Malaysia, including areas like Petaling Jaya, Puchong, Subang Jaya, Cheras, Mont Kiara and more.
In one particular video posted, he raised significant security concerns, pointing out how individuals could gain full access to the building without any restrictions, allowing them to freely move between floors.
He also highlighted that certain buildings were poorly lit, reducing visibility and compromising safety.
Other issues he addressed included insufficient facilities, slow elevators and persistent leaks causing water damage to the roofs.
His reviews consistently focus on these real, everyday problems that could affect the quality of life for residents, shedding light on aspects of condominium living that often go overlooked.
Recently, the reviewer reported receiving a request from a condominium management team to delete all videos related to their property.
"This is the exact reason why Malaysia is not improving. Today, we are doing this condo review and we have received some backlash.
"It says that we should remove all the videos because we were condemning and defaming the particular condo,” he said in the video.
Despite the criticism, he remains committed to exposing the realities of Malaysia’s property market, stressing that his assessments are based on Google reviews and feedback from property owners.
He also questioned why management teams focus on silencing critics instead of addressing the underlying problems.
"The truth is our feedback comes from real experiences and reviews we’ve gathered. Transparency matters and we believe everyone deserves to know what to expect,” the caption read on Oct 4.
He pointed out a common issue in Malaysia, where people seeking honest condo reviews often face challenges.
He further said that agents typically focus on highlighting the positive aspects of a property, while landlords tend to protect the reputation of their properties.
However, when someone tries to offer an honest review to warn others about negative experiences, they are met with backlash.
This, he believes, was unfair and highlights the lack of transparency in the industry.
"So, landlord out there, do you think these videos are appropriate for us to talk about? Why not allow us to do what we are doing today?” he asked.
