KUALA LANGAT - Authorities have identified a Toyota Corolla Cross that was allegedly involved in obstructing an ambulance on Jalan Klang-Banting on Wednesday.
The vehicle’s owner was located in Teluk Bunut, Banting, on Thursday night.
Kuala Langat district police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi confirmed that investigations revealed the incident occurred at approximately 9.45pm on Wednesday.
At the time, the ambulance, with its beacon light and siren activated, was travelling from Jenjarom Health Clinic toward Banting Hospital, transporting a patient.
The Toyota Corolla Cross, travelling ahead, failed to yield the right of way.
"The ambulance driver, a local man in his 30s has already reported the incident to the traffic investigation officer for further action," Akmalrizal said in a statement on Friday.
Investigations revealed that the car was being driven by the owner’s son who was rushing to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to catch a flight to a foreign country.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Police have urged anyone with information to come forward and contact investigating officer Inspector S. Taneswaran at 012-6708561 or the Kuala Langat district police headquarters at 03-31872222.
The incident, which was captured on video and widely shared on social media, has triggered public outrage.
Many have criticised the driver’s actions, highlighting the importance of yielding to emergency vehicles.
