Formed in 1992, KRU revolutionised the local music scene by blending pop and hip-hop in ways never seen before. Over the years, they’ve earned numerous prestigious awards, becoming one of the most influential and beloved groups in Malaysia. Their catchy tunes and groundbreaking music videos redefined the entertainment landscape.
After years of success in music, film, and television, KRU's return promises to be nothing short of spectacular. Their last performance was held under GenerasiKRU25 Concert on May 18, 2018 at Istana Budaya. Currently, KRU anticipates their upcoming performance to brace nostalgia along with fans who have been growing up with their music.
"It is an honor for Icon Entertainment to present Konsert GenKRU due to KRU's credibility and the historic milestones they’ve created since the '90s, forming a music wave that has greatly influenced all generations until today. I’ve actually been in talks with them since Nov 2022, and finally, in Sept 2024, they agreed to join my offer.
"I won’t make many promises, except that you’ll regret missing Konsert GenKRU at Axiata Arena on May 3, 2025, as this will be the first appearance of Norman, Yusry, and Edry after having truly matured in every aspect of the entertainment industry. They have spread the 'fanatic' virus for local music with world-class quality,” said Icon Entertainment founder, Iman Tang.
The trio promised that it will be an epic concert on May 3, 2025 for all local music fans, where further details about the concept and performances of the upcoming concert have been kept disclosed.
"After more than six years without a large-scale concert with KRU, we agreed to Icon Entertainment’s proposal to organise Konsert GenKRU because they share the same mission and vision as us.
"Konsert GenKRU is not just entertainment, but will be a historic journey of over 30 years of KRU in revolutionising local music, bringing it on par with Nusantara and international music.
"This concert will serve as a platform for fans to witness KRU’s transition from the '90s generation to building our empire today,” said KRU.
