SHAH ALAM - Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) owner and the Crown Prince of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has hinted at ambitious future plans for the club following its significant success in elevating Malaysian football.
Tunku Ismail who is also known as TMJ had hinted that major developments were on the horizon in the coming years.
"Everything I said 11 years ago has been accomplished. Two years ago, I mentioned that I would enhance the football industry, and I have done so both on and off the field.
"Now, look at what I’m about to do. Football is just the vehicle; what’s to come will be bigger and more forward-moving," he wrote in a post on his Instagram Story.
Tunku Ismail previously played a pivotal role in restructuring the national team, Harimau Malaya, leading to a significant transformation in Malaysian football.
Recently, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) appointed Peter Cklamovski as the new head coach of Harimau Malaya and Nafuzi Zain as the head coach of the under-23 team, marking the beginning of this new era for Malaysian football.
FAM is also restructuring Harimau Malaya's management, with plans to hire a chief executive officer (CEO), Technical Director, and other key personnel in the near future.
Discussions are also underway with FIFA regarding the potential inclusion of overseas-based heritage players in the Harimau Malaya squad.
Currently, Tunku Ismail is in Doha, Qatar, for a series of important meetings with key figures in the football world.
He recently met with Qatar Airways CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer and FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
