BENTONG - An elderly man died after being crushed by a mangosteen tree that fell on him at a farm in Batu 1, Jalan Teras, today.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Zulfadli Zakaria identified the 67-year-old victim as Lee Pik Chee, a resident of Taman Bukit Chamang.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Zulfadli said the department received a distress call at 4.23pm.
"Eight personnel from the Bentong Fire and Rescue Station were deployed to the scene along with two fire engines.
"The team used a four-wheel drive vehicle to access the location due to the lack of direct access for fire trucks and then walked approximately 1.5 kilometres to the scene," he said.
He added that the victim was retrieved by cutting sections of the tree with a chainsaw.
"The victim was safely retrieved and handed over to the police for further action," Zulfadli said.
