SHAH ALAM – A high-profile reunion of political heavyweights unfolded over the weekend at the wedding ceremony of Bersatu Secretary-General Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali’s daughter, Farah Amira.
The event, held in what appears to be a grand setting, brought together several familiar faces from Malaysia’s political sphere, with two former prime ministers seated together, devising conspiracy and speculation.
In an Instagram story posted by former Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, glimpses of the ceremony showed Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin seated next to each other at the main table.
Dr Mahathir, seated between Muhyiddin and current Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, was seen engaging in animated conversations. Fadillah, meanwhile, sat close to the groom, completing the notable arrangement at the groom's table.
Adding to the reunion, former health minister and Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin and Hishammuddin himself were also seated nearby, along with Azmin’s family members.
The scene was depicted as a moment of camaraderie, with Khairy, Hishammuddin, and Muhyiddin deep in discussion, while Dr Mahathir appeared to share a lighthearted exchange with Fadillah.
The seating arrangement triggered curiosity online, with many speculating about the topics discussed by the three former Umno stalwarts—Dr Mahathir, Muhyiddin, and Hishammuddin.
Were they reminiscing about their time in office, sharing insights into current political affairs, or perhaps discussing the future of Malaysia's political landscape?
One post captured the reunion moment, with the caption: "The most important and happiest person tonight. Thank you, Datuk Seri @azmin_ali, for the invitation for my wife and me.”
On Instagram, Bersatu Women’s Wing Chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin highlighted the joyous atmosphere, posting pictures of the two former prime ministers side by side.
"Congratulations to DS Azmin Ali and family on the wedding of your daughter, Amira, and Hakim. It was truly lively and joyous!" she wrote in the caption.
The celebration saw a blend of traditional and modern styles.
Pas Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan turned heads by swapping his usual baju Melayu for a sleek suit, posing alongside Bersatu Information Chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz.
The wedding, filled with vibrant energy and warm exchanges, became a talking point not only for its grandeur but also for the unexpected convergence of political figures.
It remains to be seen if this gathering held any deeper significance, but for now, it is a moment etched in Malaysia’s political and social calendar.
