GUA MUSANG - Residents in Kampung Batu 5 and Kampung Batu 6 here had to use the railway track to take their children to school after the bridge, which they usually take to cross Sungai Galas to get to their parked cars, was submerged.

Suzili Sulaiman, 49, said the bridge was submerged following continuous heavy rain from yesterday evening until early this morning.

Suzili said parents and their children had to risk their lives using the railway track to get to their cars parked on the other side of Sungai Galas to send their children to school.

"We had no choice but to use this route, otherwise our children would miss school. One of my children will also be sitting for the Sijil Tinggi Persekolah Malaysia (STPM) examination soon,” Suzili said when contacted today.

Meanwhile, Kampung Batu 6 resident Kua Eh Say, 60, this is the second time that the bridge had been submerged within a week.

"We are forced to use the railway track, despite it being risky, to go about our daily routines.

"This route (railway track) is narrow, so it is only passable to motorcycles and pedestrians,” he said, adding that the incident affected over 200 residents in Kampung Batu 5 and Kampung Batu 6. - BERNAMA
