Sources revealed that the MACC has opened an investigation file related to the matter, focusing on claims regarding BAM deputy president.

SHAH ALAM - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has confirmed that an investigation is underway into the senior leadership of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) following allegations of financial misconduct.

Sources revealed that the MACC has opened an investigation file related to the matter, focusing on claims regarding BAM deputy president.

"The investigation is currently ongoing, but it is understood that the MACC has opened an investigation file against the Deputy President of BAM.

"Further details will be informed later," a source disclosed on Tuesday.

This follows reports which confirmed that BAM acknowledged the visit of MACC officers to their headquarters in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, to gather specific information.

However, BAM has not released any further details regarding the requested information from the MACC.

Earlier, a news portal reported that the investigation was triggered by claims from an anonymous source alleging that a senior BAM official had received additional allowances without the approval of the BAM board. Such actions may be in violation of anti-corruption laws.

It was reported that BAM's acting president Datuk V Subramaniam and Secretary-General Datuk Kenny Goh, might be called upon to provide statements in relation to the ongoing investigation.
