SHAH ALAM - Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, has officially announced appointments to key positions in the supreme council for the 2024–2027 term.
He said that the appointments were made in accordance with Clause 13.9 of the Bersatu Constitution.
"The appointees are Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali as Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun as Treasurer-General and Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz as Information Chief.
"These appointments will take effect today. I pray that they carry out their duties outlined in the Bersatu Constitution with integrity, efficiency and honesty,” Muhyiddin shared in a Facebook post on Thursday.
Previously, it was reported that Azmin, who is also the Hulu Kelang State Assemblyman, had initially declined the offer for the position.
He cited his intention to focus on leading Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) in its mission to capture the state in the upcoming elections.
In light of this, Bersatu’s former Secretary-General Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin stressed during a recent interview with Sinar that the offer was extended after careful consideration of all factors, including Azmin’s suitability for the role.
Muhyiddin also expressed his gratitude to the outgoing leadership for their significant contributions to the party.
"I take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks to Hamzah Zainudin, former Treasurer-General Datuk Mohamed Salleh Bajuri and former Information Chief Datuk Razali Idris for their dedication and service,” he added.
