SHAH ALAM – Renowned cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Vida has claimed that the recent seizure of her assets was carried out improperly, alleging that the plaintiffs lacked the necessary entry warrant to access her residence.
Vida, whose real name is Hasmiza Othman, revealed during a TikTok live session on Tuesday that while a court order for asset seizure was presented, the plaintiffs did not have the required documentation to enter her home.
According to her, access was granted by her staff without her knowledge.
"Because it was ex parte (one-sided) without my presence, they were able to obtain the judgment. I only found out about the house seizure on the day it happened.
"My staff could not contact me as I was travelling abroad, so they made the decision themselves and informed me about the seizure.
"The order to seize the goods was there, but the entry warrant was not. However, due to the cooperation of my staff...something I was unaware of...the plaintiffs were allowed entry,” she said.
The seizure, which took place on Monday, was prompted by Vida’s alleged failure to settle a debt of RM1,060,285 related to the conversion of her Shah Alam factory into a studio in 2018.
Four of her luxury vehicles, including a Vellfire, Toyota Grand Hiace, and BMW X7, were confiscated, along with all items in her residence.
Court officials, accompanied by lawyer Samir Zainal, contractor Mohamad Taufik Kamarul, and reporters, arrived at Vida’s residence at Persiaran Bukit Meru at 9am.
Entry was granted only around 10.30am, after some of her staff arrived to facilitate the process.
According to Samir, the Ipoh High Court issued its judgment on October 29, 2023, requiring Vida to pay the outstanding debt. She has until Dec 9 to resolve the matter to prevent her possessions from being auctioned.
Addressing the public attention surrounding the incident, Vida stated that she would leave the matter in the hands of her legal team.
"I do not know whether this is fate or a test for me, especially with reporters showing up at my house.
"I believe netizens are wise enough to understand the story. Do you think I would not pay my debts? Businesspeople should not have debts. Insyallah, I will leave this matter to my lawyers.
"Please pray that I remain strong and resilient because every test has its blessings,” she added.
The entrepreneur, known for her hit song Ku Ikhlaskan, expressed optimism that the situation could be resolved as she continues to focus on her business and personal matters.
