SHAH ALAM - The Malaysian government is working to improve public counter services, with the Road Transport Department already extending its operating hours by an additional hour to enhance accessibility for citizens.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, while presenting the 2025 Budget, announced that a new Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) will be established in Seberang Perai, Penang.

In addition, all UTCs will soon be equipped with a Queue Management System (QMS), allowing the public to secure their queue numbers online before accessing services, reducing waiting times and making the process smoother.

To further improve accessibility, the government will launch the Madani Touch Kiosk initiative.

"The Madani Touch Kiosk initiative will be implemented, gathering various government service kiosks in popular areas such as shopping malls, allowing the public to access government services outside office hours,” he said.

Additionally, starting in 2025, all government counters will transition to a cashless payment system.

"The iPayment System, developed by the National Accountant's Department of Malaysia as a cashless payment platform, will be used at all government counters starting in 2025,” Anwar said.

This initiative aims to streamline payment processes and provide a more convenient and secure method of transaction for the public.
