PUTRAJAYA - The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRB) has designated October as TaxEdu Month, starting this year, with a variety of tax awareness and education programmes nationwide.
In a statement today, the IRB announced its continued commitment to disseminating tax information to ensure that all segments of society are tax literate through educational and awareness programmes.
"It is hoped that the TaxEdu Month will serve as a platform to promote the IRB and enhance voluntary tax compliance, in line with our aspiration to spread tax education to individuals of all ages and backgrounds," read the statement.
The programmes throughout TaxEdu Month will incorporate elements of tax education and entrepreneurship through activities such as the Mini HASiL State Carnival, Pocket Talk segments, Business Entrepreneur Support and Training (BEST) workshops, e-invoice briefings, HASiL Friends programmes, HASiL Your Tax Buddy@IPT, podcasts with local influencers, and more.
Numerous activities themed around education, awareness, and tax compliance will also be held, including an Essay Writing Competition, a Tax Awareness Video Competition, a TikTok Video Competition, a Graphic Poster Competition, and Tax Quizzes on the radio.
Meanwhile, IRB chief executive officer Datuk Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin said the programmes are designed not only to broaden the board’s engagement with the public but also to achieve the noble objective of playing its role and function in promoting national prosperity and enhancing the well-being of the people. - BERNAMA
