The ‘Idol’ reality series franchise was probably one of the biggest talent shows in the world, during its introduction some 20 years ago. After making waves in Europe and America, the show also found a place in our country through the Malaysian Idol series.
The show spawned some of the biggest names in the Malaysian music industry, particularly the first winner of the debut season, Jaclyn Victor. Although the reality show only lasted two seasons in Malaysia, Jaclyn Victor more popularly known as Jac did not fade with the seasons.
In fact, she continued her passion for music to become one of the most celebrated vocalists in Malaysian music history.
After two decades of victory, the star proved herself still victorious as she entertained her fans at her first solo concert that took place at Zepp Kuala Lumpur on Oct 12.
"I am very grateful that this concert was successfully executed. At the beginning I was even skeptical if people would want to buy the tickets as I don’t consider myself to be a big star,” said the very humble singer at a press conference after the show.
The star gave her best performance that evening in front of thousands who sang to her biggest hits.
Her inimitable vocal prowess remains undeniable as every song that evening was well-sung.
At the concert, the singer who is also a single mother of two announced that she will be releasing a full studio album just a few weeks from now.
The album which was produced in New York is her latest gift for her fans.
Jac was not alone that night as she also invited other familiar names to share the stage with her. This included Ning Baizura, Shila Amzah, Siti Nordiana, and Hael Husaini.
Among the songs that were sung that night were her most popular hits such as Gemilang, Di Bawah Pohon Asmara, Cinta Tiada Akhirnya, Ikut Rentak Ku and several others.
Jac also performed some special covers requested by her fans who followed her participation in the recent Malaysian reality TV contest Gegar Vaganza. Among the covers performed were, All Coming Back To Me Now, When You Believe, The Ketchup Song, and a few others.
Also known for her warm and friendly demeanor, Jac also spared some time to chat and joke with her fans that night.
Complemented by a great band, the musical direction of the evening was led by renowned Malaysian music producer, Genervie Kam.
With a concert hall full of excitement, the entire arena was filled with the echoes of Jac’s fans who never stopped singing along every time a tune was performed.
And despite turning 46 very soon, Jac is also known to look her best at every show.
That night, she appeared in beautiful outfits designed by Malaysian couture specialists Rizman Ruzaini, who also dressed her co-stars Ning Baizura and Shila Amzah.
Some familiar faces were also present that night to support Jaclyn Victor. Among those seen included Dato Sheila Majid, fellow Malaysian idol alumni Dina Nadzir, Marsha Milan, Liza Hanim, and many more.
The lively evening ended with a cover of renowned Hindi hit Bole Chudiyan and Tunak Tunak Tun, the song that once stole her fan's attention during the filming of Gegar Vaganza.
Clearly, Jaclyn Victor will continue to remain victorious in her quest of creating great music for Malaysia and the world beyond.
