KUALA LUMPUR - The experienced Jazeman Jaafar is one of five drivers Malaysia will be counting on to deliver the goods in the FIA (International Automobile Federation) Motorsport Games 2024 at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, Spain from Oct 23-27.
The Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) said that Jazeman will carry the country's challenge in the GT Sprint category while Weiron Tan and Selim Rafique will compete in the GT category.
It added that the Esports category will feature Naquib Nor Azlan and Nabil Nor Azlan, who have both been trained by former Formula One driver Alex Yoong.
"With their spirit of cooperation and determination, Team Malaysia is ready to give the others a tough fight and is targeting podium finishes,” MAM said in a statement recently.
Meanwhile, MAM president Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir, through the same statement, said he was proud and thrilled to send a team of local drivers to the championships, which is considered the "Olympic Games” for the world of motorsports.
"I believe all these five Malaysian drivers have what it takes to compete against the best at the international level. This event is an excellent opportunity for them to showcase the talent possessed by drivers from Southeast Asia,” he said.
This is the third time Malaysia will be competing in the FIA Motorsport Games, having made their debut in 2019 in Italy, where eRacing GP 2019 winner Mior Muhamad Hafiz came in eighth in the Digital Cup.
In 2022, in France, Naquib Azlan outraced drivers from over 60 countries to qualify as one of the finalists in the Esports Cup. - BERNAMA
