KUALA LUMPUR – In a surprising twist, Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman found himself trading politics for the spotlight!
Decked out in a white coat and stethoscope, the 31-year-old politician played doctor for a day - but not in real life.
Instead, the former Youth and Sports Minister made a fun cameo in Sabahan singer and actress Bella Astillah's latest music video 'Tapi Bukan Denganmu'.
Taking to Instagram recently, Syed Saddiq joked, "Mama always wanted me to be a doctor. Well, this is close enough!"
Fans were thrilled to see him trying his hand at acting, with Syed Saddiq humbly admitting, "I don’t think I’m an actor, but it was still fun pretending to be one!"
He also took the opportunity to praise Bella, calling her one of Malaysia’s rising stars in both music and acting.
The music video, which premiered at The Aurum Theatre in Kuala Lumpur, told the emotional story of a single mother who freed herself from an abusive marriage.
Bella herself played the lead role, while seasoned actress Ellie Suriaty Omar took on the role of her mother.
Actor Muaz Zabir portrayed the toxic husband in the gripping tale of courage and independence.
"This song is not based on my real-life experience, even though I'm a single mother of two children.
"I wrote the song early this year, as a tribute to all single mothers who have chosen to break free from unhappy marriages and find happiness with their children,” Bella reportedly said.
In March, Bella filed for divorce against her former husband, Singaporean singer and actor Aliff Aziz, after he was caught for khalwat with Penang-born actress Ruhainies Zainul Ilyas at her condominium in the federal capital.
Bella and Aliff were officially divorced on June 12 at the Federal Territories Syariah Court.
She was given custody of their two children Ayden Adrean, 7 and Ara Adreanna, 4.
