SHAH ALAM – The two suspects believed to have murdered 62-year-old Sabari Baharom and dumped his body into the Padang Terap River in Jitra, Kedah likely did so to conceal their crime and flee.

Crime analyst Kamal Affandi said that in any criminal case, there was nothing unusual when it comes to the motives and brutality exhibited by the perpetrators towards their target.

He said that it was incorrect to assume that the level of violence or cruelty automatically linked to the mental state of the criminal.

"In many cases, individuals with a genuine history of mental illness, such as schizophrenia, often decapitate their victims as they are unable to distinguish between dreams and reality.

"In my view, regardless of the defence or reasons given for the cruel treatment of any victim, it does not change the fact that there was a plan to conceal the crime and flee,” he said.

Kamal further highlighted that the suspects appeared capable of planning their escape before being apprehended by the police.
