KUALA SELANGOR - The family of Norasmidah Syamsul Bahari, 20, who had been missing since last Monday, is at a loss over her safety as she had yet to be found.
Her father, Syamsul Bahari Abdul Karim, 42, said that various efforts had been made to locate Norasmidah, affectionately known as 'Kak Chik.'
Residing in Kampung Bukit Kuching Tengah, Jeram, he stated that the search had been conducted in the industrial areas of Shah Alam and extended to Kampung Sungai Sireh in Tanjong Karang.
"Please come home, Kak Chik. Think of your mother and father, as we were worried about your safety, especially since it had been two days since you last came home.
"We searched tirelessly, but Kak Chik had yet to be found. We hoped she would return to the family soon," he told Sinar when contacted on Wednesday.
According to Syamsul Bahari, his third child out of six siblings had expressed her desire to get married two weeks before her disappearance.
"I told Kak Chik that if she wanted to get married, she should bring her boyfriend to meet us first.
"Before marriage, the family needed to get to know the man involved, and I had no objection if she wanted to marry as long as she was happy.
"But with things turning out like this, we worried because we didn't know where she was, and she hadn't come home," he added.
Syamsul Bahari said that he had attempted to contact his daughter's boyfriend several times, but he claimed to be unaware of Kak Chik's whereabouts.
"Kak Chik's friends told us that she had complained about feeling bored and trapped at home and wanted to go out to work," he shared.
Syamsul Bahari said the family pleaded with Norasmidah to return home and discuss things with them before making any decisions.
He also added that his wife, Siti Salmiah Mansor, 47, was under immense stress and constantly worried about their daughter.
"My wife often stared off in thought, and I kept advising her to stay strong and pray that Kak Chik would return soon," he said.
He recounted that they realised their daughter was missing at around 12.30am on Monday when he woke up to go to the bathroom.
Syamsul Bahari was shocked to find the front door unlocked and woke his wife in their bedroom.
"My wife and I then checked Kak Chik's room and were surprised when, after pulling back the blanket, only her bolster was there while she was gone.
"Villagers claimed to have seen Kak Chik leaving with someone in a white sedan, but the truth of this was uncertain," he added.

Meanwhile, Kuala Selangor district police chief superintendent Azaharudin Tajudin confirmed the incident.
Azaharudin stated that a police report had been lodged by the teenager's father at Jeram Police Station at around 4am on Monday.
"So far, the police were still investigating the disappearance of the teenage girl," he said.
