KUALA LUMPUR - Bollywood’s leading playback singer Arijit Singh is set to return to Malaysia for a highly anticipated concert at Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil on Nov 16, with organisers Hitman Solutions and Cinestar Events expecting a packed audience of 10,000 fans.
In an exclusive interview with Bernama, Rohit Rampal, Founder & CEO of Hitman Group, said that over 85 per cent of the tickets have already been sold.
"We are expecting an audience of around 10,000, ensuring that every seat is filled so as many fans as possible can experience this highly anticipated event.
"Arijit’s last performance in Malaysia was held at the Dewan Wawasan Convention & Exhibition Centre, and with a larger venue this time and over a decade of new music, fans can look forward to an even more spectacular show,” he said.
In terms of challenges, Rohit shared that the organisers had to adjust their usual marketing and promotional strategies to reach a niche Bollywood-loving audience.
"A key focus has been reaching out to Malaysian Bollywood fans, many of whom are familiar with his songs from popular films but may not know him by name.
"We made sure to highlight that Arijit is the voice behind some of their favourite Bollywood hits,” he explained.
Rohit further said that the concert is not just attracting local fans but is also drawing an international audience from countries like India, the Maldives, Pakistan, Australia, and across Southeast Asia.
"As Arijit's final Southeast Asian stop for the year, fans are in for an unforgettable experience, as we are going all out with next-level production to create a concert like no other,” he said.
The recipient of several accolades, including two National Film Awards in India, 37-year-old Arijit has recorded songs in several Indian languages, predominantly Hindi and Bengali.
Arijit, who rose to fame with the release of the successful track "Tum Hi Ho" from the Bollywood movie "Aashiqui 2" in 2013, is currently the most-followed artist globally on Spotify, with over 123 million followers. - BERNAMA
