PETALING JAYA - Former finance minister Tun Dr Daim Zainuddin's wife Toh Puan Na'imah Abdul Khalid, has lodged a police report concerning an article by a prominent international news agency regarding the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation into her husband.

Na'imah claimed that what had long been considered an ‘open secret’ in the country had now been confirmed by the news agency.

"In 2015, the exposure of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) kleptocracy by the Wall Street Journal was a turning point for our country," she said in a statement on Monday.

Na’imah’s remarks followed her police report at the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters.

She said that the news agency's disclosure last week regarding abuse of power, conspiracy and efforts to cover up wrongdoing among the highest levels of government officials was another similar turning point that needed to be investigated.

She claimed that the political vendetta against Daim was part of a broader pattern of power abuse by the country's leaders, aimed at advancing their own agendas.

"We now demand justice. We want a criminal investigation into the abuse of power, conspiracy and criminal acts by the country's leaders.

"This is a conspiracy targeting political opponents by manipulating state institutions and enforcement agencies, as evidenced by the disclosures from international news portals.

"We are aware that Daim and I are not the only ones who have been victimised since they came to power," she claimed.

She alleged that the leaders' abuse of power was not a new phenomenon and said that since the article was published, they have received the usual denials from various parties.
