PETALING JAYA - The Lotus's Ceria Charity Run 2024, hosted by Lotuss Stores (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia), once again united thousands of Malaysians for a meaningful cause.
The second edition of the charity run which was held at Lotus’s Ara Damansara, here, today, saw over 4,000 participants and 120 brands coming together to raise RM400,000 in cash, which will be directed towards enhancing the learning environments of underserved schools across the country.
In addition, business partners made generous in-kind contributions, amounting to RM2,300,000 worth of products.
The funds raised through the collaborative efforts of runners and participating business partners will go towards the #KitakanJiran education initiative, a project by Lotus’s Malaysia in partnership with the PINTAR Foundation.
Lotus’s Malaysia chief executive officer Saksit Panurach expressed appreciation for the unwavering support from runners here today and from all our business partners who had come together in supporting the run this year.
"We are humbled to be surrounded by a supportive community that is committed to breaking down barriers in learning and in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
"The outcome of the Ceria Charity Run 2024 fundraiser is extraordinary, as this allows PINTAR Foundation and Lotus’s to double our efforts in creating more joyful learning spaces and experiences for students and teachers," he said.
The non-competitive run consisted of 15km, 10km and 5km categories.
What made the event unique was its "Run & Collect" concept, where participants were given reusable bags to gather goodies along the route, before receiving their medals and two more bags filled with more goodies at the finishing line.
Each participant also went home with discount vouchers worth up to RM400 and goodie bags filled with products valued at over RM150.
Some of them even went home with lucky draw items worth RM18,000 in total.
The grand prize for the lucky draw was a uSmarto Zero Healthcare massage chair worth RM9,999 while the other prizes included Gintell Cybertrek Sport Treadmill worth RM4,588 and the Gintell X-Spinno 2.0 Spinning Bike worth RM2,988.
Other lucky draw prizes included 10 bags of 5kg Jasmine Pusa Cream Parboiled Basmathi Rice, 10 Zero Healthcare Cosy Neck Travel Pillows and six Reebok watches from Marco Corporation.
During the event, participants also get to enjoy other activities such as fun game booths like Flavour Frenzy, Archery, Sand Painting, Lucky Ducky, Harvest Toss, Guess the Weight, Memory Game and bouncy castles.
They also had the opportunity to meet and pose with Malaysian animated character, BoBoiboy and Mondelez’s Cookie Guy and sampled an array of products showcased by local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and national brands.
Last year, the Ceria Charity Run raised RM150,000, which was used to upgrade a computer lab and redesign a conducive design and technology classroom at SK Methodist ACS Seremban.
The funds also helped renovate and furnish SK Pandan Jaya’s science lab, previously damaged by termites.
