"This is my first time voting, so I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to come and vote," she said.

Originally from Sarawak, Nur Syafiqah moved to Taman Murni in 2016 when her mother began working at Kluang Hospital.

"I checked the voter registration last year and found that I was eligible to vote in the Mahkota state by-election today," she added.

After casting her vote, she planned to head straight back to Johor Bahru, as her husband had to work the afternoon shift.
