SUBANG JAYA – Residents of the 10th floor, Block D, People's Housing Project (PPR) Lembah Subang, have creatively transformed their low-cost housing into a space resembling a luxury condominium.
A viral TikTok video by user @hanakamie showcased the remarkable before-and-after transformation, featuring renovations to the corridor, stairs, and lift areas on the floor.
The communal effort by neighbours turned the once dimly lit PPR into a vibrant, condo-like environment.
"Isn't it fun? Now the Grab driver won't feel scared," the TikTok user joked, sharing photos of the renovation work.
It’s understood that the residents embarked on this initiative as part of the Cleanliness and Cheerfulness Competition at PPR Lembah Subang 1.
Social media users praised the residents' efforts, with one commenting, "From a haunted spot to a hotel lobby... well done."
The hard work not only improved the aesthetic but also helped challenge the negative perceptions often associated with PPR communities.
"Excellent... this is the mindset we want. Start with one floor, then work on the others.
"Even if you're living in a PPR, you can have the mentality of living in a luxury condo," wrote a TikTok user named Diamoc20.
Another user admired the creativity and suggested installing a Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) to prevent vandalism.
"It’s good to install CCTV. After all the effort to make it look nice, if someone damages it, they can be made to clean it," commented Naniey Sakura09.
