SHAH ALAM –The lead researcher at Yayasan Warisan Ummah Ikhlas (WUIF), Safri Muhammad, 48, was passed away at about 9.50pm last night.
His wife, Rusamiah Ismail, 51, said Safri was hospitalised due to severe tooth pain and fainting.
"His health condition started to deteriorate and he developed a cough, which led the doctors to sedate him at 5pm,” she said when contacted on Monday.
She added that the doctors confirmed his heart had stopped and the hospital staff had to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) five times before he was pronounced dead.
It is understood that the deceased, originally from Medan, Indonesia, leaves behind three children aged between 15 and 20 years old.
Previously, Safri was responsible for conducting the research for My #QuranTime 1.0 and 2.0, which had been aired on three television stations since 2020.
He also taught Arabic and Al-Quran classes at Kumpulan Karangkraf since 2014.
Last Saturday, he participated in the Wellness #QuranHour programme at Masjid Darul Ehsan, SS 15 Subang Jaya.
Meanwhile, Kumpulan Karangkraf Special Duties Senior Manager Hashim Anang, said that Safri held a Master’s Degree in Shariah and Quranic Studies from Tripoli University, Libya and had been involved in World #QuranHour and Malaysia #QuranHour since its inception.
"The body was brought back to his home in Bukit Kuda and will be managed at Masjid Kampung Kuantan, Klang for burial,” he said.
