KLUANG - The Perikatan Nasional (PN) manifesto for the Mahkota state by-election is in its final stages and is expected to be announced in two days.

PN information chief Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said discussions were ongoing to identify any additional issues that could be addressed before the manifesto is officially revealed.

He said part of the manifesto has already been outlined by the candidate and PN leadership in prior announcements.

"As we know, Mahkota is a small constituency in Johor, but our voice for this seat will be important in the Johor state legislative assembly in the future.

"We want to focus on major issues that our representative can bring forward in the Johor state legislative assembly if Mohamad Haizan Jaafar is elected as the assemblyman," he said when met by reporters at a ceramah, last night.

Commenting further, Azmin denied any claims of a boycott by Bersatu against PN’s candidate.

He said the Pas' campaign team has been actively involved in Mahkota since the conclusion of their general assembly (Pas Muktamar) in Pahang, last week.

"I have previously addressed this issue. On Saturday, Pas had its general assembly in Pahang.

"The date for this assembly was set long before the by-election and we respect that.

"But Pas central took a positive decision to send Datuk Nik Mohd Amar Abdullah (Kelantan State Assembly Speaker) as a representative and even Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (Pas secretary-general) told me that all Johor Pas leaders were instructed not to attend the assembly.

"From the Pas Commissioner to the youth and women’s wings, they have been involved here in Mahkota since day one, so there's no question of a boycott," he added.

Azmin also said nearly 100 Pas volunteers arrived in Mahkota to assist the campaign.
