KLUANG - Although Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) and Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) have chosen not to run in the Mahkota state by-election, both parties are still involved by supporting Perikatan Nasional (PN).

PN information chief Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said Muda's support was crucial to attract votes from youths which accounted for over half of the Mahkota electorate.

"Muda is here. They informed me that they wanted to contribute in the election and I am grateful.

"With around 52 per cent of voters being young, Muda's role is very important. Their connection with the youth is strong and their presence tonight sends a positive message that they are supporting us," he said.

Last night, several Muda members attended an event held by PN.

Azmin also said he would be attending the wedding of Muda’s acting president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz in Johor Bahru on Sept 21.

When asked whether Muda would officially join forces with PN, Azmin said the matter would be discussed after the by-election.

He also highlighted that Pejuang, led by Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir has similarly pledged support for PN in the by-election.
