SHAH ALAM - The decision by Barisan Nasional (BN) to field a young candidate for the Mahkota state by-election shows that the party is not lacking in leadership.
Johor Umno Youth chief Noor Azleen Ambros said this was an opportunity for Johor BN to showcase new and fresh talent, reflecting the future of Umno and its leadership in the state.
"I would like to thank Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi for recognising the current youth leadership and for bravely nominating Kluang Umno Youth chief Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah as BN's representative.
"This sends a clear message to the public that Umno has a promising future, is not short of leaders and is a platform that cultivates well-rounded leaders," he said.
He said this as a panellist during the Wacana Sinar edition 456 programme entitled "Biru Apa Warna Mahkota?" held at Karangkraf Complex, here, yesterday.
The programme, hosted by Ismail Adnan also featured Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Political Science senior lecturer Mujibu Ab Muis and Johor Bersatu work secretary Muhammad Syafiq Aziz as panellists.
Azleen further emphasised Syed Hussien's strengths, such as his ability to speak Chinese, his local background, prior experience as a council member and his deep roots in Kluang.
This, he said showed that Umno not only has no shortage of leaders but also possessed capable talents who could be offered to the people.
"If he is fortunate enough to be chosen as a representative on Sept 28, he must make the most out of it. He should be an effective and impactful representative, fighting for the people and the future of Mahkota.
"After going through this process, he will eventually gain the path to convince leaders at both state and national levels," he added.
