TEMERLOH - Pas is open to cooperating with Umno if the largest Malay party decides to withdraw from the Unity Government, according to Pas Youth Chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden.
Afnan said that this potential collaboration is not limited to Umno alone but extends to all parties in the spirit of Islamic unity.
"This unity of the ummah is not dead. In fact, I believe the relationship between Pas and Umno at the grassroots level has improved since the Muafakat Nasional (MN) initiative.
"The connection remains strong, with the only difference being that they are in Umno and we are in Pas.
"They still support us quietly, and that benefits us," he said during a press conference at the 65th Pas Youth Assembly at the Al-Makmur Complex in Kerdau on Thursday.
The Alor Setar Member of Parliament further stated that Umno leaders within the current government have not been actively defending Islamic values, allowing DAP leaders to become more vocal.
"If people don't follow our views and don't respect our opinions, it's better to leave.
"It’s more important to uphold principles than to simply protect votes," he added.
