TAMPIN - An object resembling an old bomb, identified as an Unexploded Ordnance (UXO), was discovered at an oil palm plantation at Jalan Batu Belang here on Monday.
Tampin district police chief Superintendent Amiruddien Sariman said they received information about the discovery at 8.42 am.
"Following that information, a team from the Tampin District Police Headquarters went to the scene and set up police barriers to ensure the area was restricted and dangerous.
"The Bomb Disposal Unit from the Negeri Sembilan Contingent Police Headquarters was also notified for further action," he said in a statement on Monday.
Amiruddien said initial investigations revealed that the bomb was a mortar type, 81mm in size, measuring 36 centimetres in length.
The bomb was safely destroyed by the Bomb Disposal Unit from the Negeri Sembilan Contingent Police Headquarters and the Tampin District Bomb Disposal Unit at 11.51am.
