SHAH ALAM - A video went viral featuring Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor enjoying a casual meal at a restaurant following a friendly football match.
Shared on Amirudin's social media accounts, the video depicted the two leaders unwinding and chatting after the official visit by the Kedah government to Selangor.
"After playing football, of course, we have to hang out at the mamak," Amirudin tweeted.
In the video, both leaders were seen socialising and laughing together, just like ordinary citizens.
While sports served as a unifying force, the two leaders' differing political stances were evident.
The video's popularity can be attributed to the widespread interest in sports and politics among Malaysians.
On Tuesday, Kedah defeated Selangor 8-5 in a friendly football match.
Both teams displayed aggression and competitiveness throughout the game, with Sanusi scoring for his team in the first half.
During the prize-giving ceremony, Sanusi emphasised the match as a representation of mature politics, transcending party differences.
He highlighted the unifying nature of sports, regardless of one's background.
Amirudin echoed this sentiment, stating that political differences did not hinder socialisation or cooperation with the Kedah state government during their visit to Selangor.
