SHAH ALAM - Malaysian influencer Khairul Aming marked a new milestone in his career, having given the chance to showcase his culinary prowess alongside New Zealand's Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon.
Luxon, who is on a three-day visit to Malaysia, met with Khairul, affectionately known as KA, to mark a gesture of appreciation from the New Zealand government, acknowledging Khairul's impactful cooking series that has bridged cultures and palates.
Not long ago, Khairul went on a culinary adventure in New Zealand and started a new cooking series that continues to resonate with fans.
With four episodes of his New Zealand cooking series out, his delicious dishes have caught the attention of many, including Luxon.
Their paths crossed during Luxon’s first diplomatic visit to Malaysia since taking office in Nov 2023.
In a heartfelt video shared on his social media accounts, Khairul revealed that he had the incredible opportunity to introduce the Prime Minister to some beloved Malaysian breakfast staples.
With a warm smile, he guided Luxon through the flavors of ‘nasi lemak’, ‘roti jala’ and ‘teh tarik’.
Their conversation spanned beyond food, touching on tourism exchange, trade of halal meat and dairy, nature preservation and the exciting potential for local Malaysian small and medium enterprises to expand into New Zealand.
Reflecting on this milestone, Khairul shared a piece of advice that resonates deeply with his followers online.
"Eight years ago, I filmed my first cooking video while sitting on the floor. Today, I have the privilege of sitting next to the Prime Minister of a renowned nation. Keep hustling, you will be amazed at where life can take you,” he said.
Meanwhile, social media exploded with admiration for Khairul’s achievement.
On Instagram, @nijammm said: "I swear you are on another level. I am so speechless,” while @nynaazlina commented: "Congratulations, a true hero. Keep inspiring Aming! Kudos.”
Over on TikTok, @muzammil_jamaludin echoed the sentiment: "No wonder Tun M (Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad) only follows him (Khairul) on TikTok, he is on another level.”
