An analyst said the party's machinery must work hard to secure Umno's victory in by-election, even though BN already has a strong chance of winning compared to PN.

SHAH ALAM - The Barisan Nasional (BN) machinery must continue to intensify efforts to secure victory in the Mahkota by-election on Sept 28.

Political analyst Associate Professor Dr Mazlan Ali said the party's machinery must work hard and do everything possible to ensure Umno's candidate wins, even though BN already has a strong chance of winning the Mahkota by-election compared to Perikatan Nasional (PN).

"We cannot take things lightly and must work hard, even though I say BN's chances of winning are bright due to the demographic in the area," he said.

He added that the Mahkota by-election presented its own challenges, particularly in securing the support of Umno and Pakatan Harapan (PH) voters.

"Mahkota is a BN stronghold, which requires strong cooperation between this coalition.

"If they want to win, PH must also help; they cannot just rely on BN alone," he said.

Earlier, it was reported that Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan reminded the BN machinery not to be complacent with the victory in the Nenggiri by-election, as each election was different, especially when considering the demographic factors of each location.
