One of the world's most renowned watch brands, Seiko, unveiled a new boutique at The Exchange TRX, Kuala Lumpur, as part of its 100th brand anniversary celebration while also including the Power Design Project Exhibition 2024 to showcase new distinguished collections including the King Seiko, Astron, Presage, Prospex and Seiko 5 Sports.
Their new collection under the theme "Incredibly Specialised Watches" was headed by the design development team design director Yu Ishihara who also participated in the event through a special invite.
The audience was able to see seven unique conceptual designs that epitomised SEIKO's "innovative spirit and technological mastery," according to the press release.
The seven unique conceptual designs included 'ambidextrous', 'panda lovers', 'sunny men', 'hide-and-seek', 'patternmaker', 'sukiyaki' and 'masking tape enthusiasts'.
The initiative was said to be experimental for the Japanese watchmaker's in-house designers to further explore the beauty of watchmaking beyond traditional limits while also expressing their creativity and individual perspectives.
The watch line is also partnered with Thong Sia Group whose chairman, Joseph Wong had travelled from Hong Kong to witness the grand opening including the exhibition.

Seiko Watch Corporation President Akio Naito from Japan also made his inaugural visit to Malaysia since navigating the organisation in April 2021 to officiate the boutique's grand opening, among other key figures from the same organisation such as Director and Senior Vice President Yoshikatsu Kawada, Director and Senior Executive Vice President Yukiaki Suganuma and Thong Sia Group Vice Chairman Joshua Wong.
Two-time swimming Olympian and SEIKO Prospex Brand Friend Welson Sim was also at the grand opening.
