PUTRAJAYA - The Malaysia #QuranHour 2024 resonates deeply with participants, especially the younger generation as the explanations given during the tadabbur (reflecting upon the Quran) session are connected to their daily lives.
Puteri Umno Exco Firza Syafiqa Mohd Puzi said this was because from childhood, Muslims were usually only taught to read the Quran without a clear understanding of the meaning of the verses.
She said most young people thought that reading the Quran without understanding the meaning was sufficient for them.
"I believe that about 70 to 80 per cent of the participants can read the Quran, but not many understand the meaning of its verses. That's why I found today's tadabbur session during Malaysia #QuranHour so beneficial as it helped us grasp the meanings of the Quranic verses.
"I was personally moved because the translations were very relevant to our lives as human beings and they help build a moral and civilised society," she said.
She said this during the Malaysia #QuranHour programme held at the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque in Putrajaya, today.
The event was also attended by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil and Yayasan Warisan Ummah Ikhlas (WUIF) founder Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub.
The programme themed "Merdeka Spirit: Deciphering the Rukun Negara" was guided by Surah al-Jumu'ah and al-Hujurat.
Firza added that the theme of the programme was very appropriate in the effort to encourage society to understand the Rukun Negara and appreciate the meaning of independence.
"We need to truly understand the meaning of independence as explained through the tadabbur session. The facts provided can attract the society, especially the younger generation, to embody the spirit of independence.
"This is because the current generation prefers facts and without clear information and explanation, it is difficult to capture their attention.
"I hope this programme will continue to grow in the future," she added.
