SUBANG JAYA - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim describes the passing of Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Media and Strategic Communications director Rozaid Abdul Rahman as a loss of family and a friend.
Anwar said the former Sinar Karangkraf group editor-in-chief was also an old friend of his since the latter was a journalist at Utusan Malaysia.
"His father was also an old friend of mine in Permatang Pauh.
"On a personal level, I have indeed lost a friend who has supported me all this time," he said at the Putra Heights mosque in Subang Jaya, today.
Anwar was accompanied by his wife Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to pay their last respects to Rozaid, who passed away due to a heart attack yesterday (Sunday).
Anwar added that Rozaid was a pillar in media strategy at the Prime Minister's Office.
"May Allah SWT bless his soul and I hope that his wife and family remain patient through this trial," he said.
Also present to pay their last respects were Communications Minister Fahmi Fadhil, Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Previously, Rozaid experienced similar health issue and received treatment at Sultan Idris Shah Hospital in Serdang.
On July 5, Anwar visited Rozaid while the latter was undergoing treatment for health issues.
Rozaid started his role at Sinar Harian on Jan 4, 2021, and chose to conclude his service on Dec 30, 2022.
