Both candidates were warmly received by their supporters, with cheers echoing as they entered the polling station.

The by-election was necessitated after the Nenggiri seat became vacant, following an announcement by Kelantan State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah on June 19.

This vacancy arose when the former assemblyman, Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, ceased to be a member of Bersatu on June 13.

During the last state election, Azizi secured the seat on Pas ticket, winning by a margin of 810 votes against BN’s Ab Aziz Yusoff.
