No Malaysians involved in ongoing protests in the UK

"The High Commission of Malaysia in London confirms that no Malaysians have been involved in the ongoing protests.

"While the situation is under careful observation, all Malaysians in the UK are urged to stay away from protest areas, remain vigilant and follow the latest updates and guidance provided by the local authorities,” the advisory stated.

The ministry will strive to keep the public informed of any developments, it added.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry advises Malaysians who have not yet registered with the High Commission of Malaysia in London to do so, to ensure they can be reached and assisted promptly in case of an emergency.

"This will also enable the High Commission to provide timely updates and necessary support,” the advisory added.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Malaysian registering with the High Commission of Malaysia in London need to provide details if they are visiting the UK on a short-term basis (less than one month), residing in or visiting the UK for more than one month or Malaysian student in the UK.

For Malaysians visiting the UK on a short-term basis (less than one month), they are advised to send an email to lonmalaysian@kln.gov.my.

The email subject should include the visitor's last day in the UK followed by the name in the format YYYYMMDD NAME (e.g., 20240805 ABU BIN ALI if the last day is Aug 5, 2024, and the name is Abu bin Ali), the advisory added.

It added that the body of the email should include the names of any accompanying family members, NRIC number, passport number, UK address, contact number, and the duration of stay in the UK.

The name, telephone number, and relationship of the next of kin should be included, the advisory added.

According to the Foreign Ministry, those residing in or visiting the UK for more than one month will need to register their presence in the UK via the Foreign Ministry’s e-Konsular via the web or on mobile through https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my or via the ekonsular Malaysia mobile app which can be downloaded.

For Malaysian students, registration can be done through the Ministry of Higher Education registration’s platform at https://dohe.mohe.gov.my/mydata/login, it added.

Malaysians in the UK who have already registered in the TalentCorp MyHeart portal are regarded as having registered with the High Commission of Malaysia, London. No further action is required, it added. - BERNAMA
