SHAH ALAM - Amidst all the Malaysia badminton Olympic drama, Tan Sri Norza Zakaria has announced that he will be stepping down from his role as Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) president.
According to a report by English daily The Star, Norza, who is also the Malaysian Olympic Council (OCM) president, expressed his feelings about the backlash and confirmed his impending resignation.
"Seeing all these responses, my feeling right now, I am just going to say that I am resigning soon from BAM, which many people are aware of.
"I hope the next leader can improve the state of badminton affairs in our country," he was reported saying.
The report also said that previously, Norza had indicated that he will resign after the Olympic Games.
His decision comes as the latest development in a series of events that have cast a spotlight on Malaysia's badminton scene and its leadership.
