SHAH ALAM - Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), redONE Network Sdn Bhd (redONE), is offering a reward totalling RM1 million to national athletes who manage to bring home gold medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
redONE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ameen Amaendran Abdullah said that the cash incentive would be distributed in monthly instalments over a period of 10 years.
Additionally, he said that the money would be shared if multiple athletes win gold medals and they would be offered the role of redONE ambassadors for four years until the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, United States (US).
"As a company rooted in advocating for the development of sports in Malaysia, we view the RM1 million contribution not only as an honour to the athletes but as a sign of unwavering support for sportsmanship and national pride.
"We believe in the power of sports to foster unity and redONE remains committed to driving athletes to greater heights.
"Our goal is not only to celebrate the achievements of current athletes but to open opportunities for future generations to achieve remarkable potential," he said in a statement on Friday.
For the record, the Paris 2024 Olympics, which will begin on July 26, will see 26 national athletes competing in various events.
He also urged other corporate companies to join in supporting and boosting the morale of national athletes collectively to inspire new generations and bring glory to Malaysian sports on the world stage.
For the record, redONE has supported Malaysian sports through various initiatives, including partnerships with local football clubs such as Selangor FC, Terengganu FC, Sabah FC and most recently, PDRM FC and Imigresen FC.
Additionally, the company has sponsored several sports tournaments, including the Kuala Lumpur Fencing, Selangor Squash and the Purple League Badminton Championships.
