The Wanderlust Travel Set marks their inaugural perfume collection tailored for Malaysians with a passion for travel, as well as international visitors seeking distinctive scents reflective of Malaysia’s essence.

OLFAC3 Perfumes, chief perfumer and founder Aien Mokhtar said the set features six of their most sought-after and distinctive perfumes, each in convenient 7.5ml travel and gift sizes, elegantly packaged in a reusable metal box.

"This will be our first product to be offered in travel retail by 2025, where visitors to Malaysia can bring a piece of Malaysia home with them and wherever they go,” she said.

OLFAC3 Perfumes was founded eight years ago and has since become a favourite among perfume enthusiasts in Malaysia and neighbouring Bali, Indonesia.

Known for crafting original perfumes from scratch using premium ingredients sourced globally, OLFAC3 Perfumes draws inspiration from Aien's Malaysian heritage and her personal journey.

Her global adventures, starting from a young age accompanying her mother on international postings with the Malaysian Embassy, heavily influence the brand's creations. Aien emphasised that their perfumes are not trend-driven but instead reflect her memories and a preference for distinctive, non-mainstream scents that stand out.

"The perfumes feature ingredients representing the region and places that inspire me. My creations also tend to feature more Asian-inspired ingredients due to my Malaysian heritage as compared to other international brands.

"Each perfume has its own unique story, imagined, captured and distilled into a standalone sensorial experience,” she added.

According to Aien, most Malaysian perfume brands are currently not led by a perfumer dedicated to creating exclusive original creations. Instead, some offer mass-produced perfumes inspired by popular international scents using lower-cost ingredients, allowing for lower retail prices.

OLFAC3 Perfumes, however, stands out for its commitment to crafting perfumes of equivalent quality to premium international brands. The distinction lies in the inspiration behind each perfume, the carefully selected ingredients, the composition and style, and the unique emotional resonance each creation evokes.

Aien likens this approach to how paintings by artists from diverse backgrounds and cultures exhibit distinct styles and appeal.

"The quality of OLFAC3 Perfumes is also much higher than international ‘masstige’ (mass prestige) brands in the market.

"Masstige brands tend to focus more on packaging, branding, advertising and celebrity endorsements than the quality of ingredients used and the fragrance inside the bottle,” Ain said.

Their new travel set, and perfumes will be available in duty-free shops in Malaysian airports by early 2025. They will also expand their presence in Bali further this year and continue their growth to the Middle East and Europe in 2025 and 2026.
