BANGKOK - Six people - three men and three women - were found dead in a hotel room in the Ratchaprasong area here on Tuesday.
The deceased were reported to be two Vietnamese Americans and four Vietnam nationals.
In an immediate response, Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said he has instructed police chief Police General Torsak Sukvimol to urgently and thoroughly investigate the case, and to take control of the situation to ensure no adverse impact or danger to the public and tourists.
Speaking to the media at the scene on Tuesday night, Srettha said the bodies were discovered at 4.30pm.
He said initial findings by the police indicate that the deceased had died in less than 24 hours from suspected poisoning as there were no signs of trauma or robbery.
Srettha, who was accompanied by Torsak, said he had also briefed Vietnamese ambassador to Thailand, Pham Viet Hung, on the case.
The police are investigating the case by viewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses to determine the cause of death. - BERNAMA
