SHAH ALAM - "I don't know how much longer I will live, but my whole life is dedicated to serving the country."

This was the response from former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to all who wished him well on his 99th birthday today.

Dr Mahathir expressed his gratitude for all the support he had received in the past.

"I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for the kind wishes from everyone on my 99th birthday.

"I have taken on this role, I don't know for how long, but my whole life has been dedicated to serving the country," he said in a voice recording on Wednesday.

Dr Mahathir was born on July 10, 1925 (his official birth date is recorded as December 20, 1925) in Kampung Seberang Perak, Alor Setar, Kedah.
