NIBONG TEBAL — Hang Siew Cheng, 67, who lost his leg to diabetes and now uses a prosthetic, arrived at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Duri to cast his vote in the Sungai Bakap by-election.
He was accompanied by his friend, Kweh Seng Wee, 72.
Hang, from Wellesley, expressed that his voting preference would remain confidential, while showing a limited interest in politics.
Kweh, on the other hand, had a history of political engagement.
He had been invited multiple times to join the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) but declined for personal reasons.
Despite this, he remained committed to his civic duty and consistently participated in voting.
"Hang and I were on different paths in our younger years, but we came to vote together to fulfil our civic duty,” Kweh said.
He added that they had set out to vote early in the morning.
The Penang-raised pair, keeping their votes private, expressed their hope for a better Malaysia.
