The coronation falls on the same date, July 20, as the scheduled festival.

SHAH ALAM - The Good Vibes Festival's (GVF) planned comeback after last year's chaos with Matty Healy’s on stage drama has been dashed by the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim’s coronation, which unfortunately falls on the same day.

The coronation falls on the same date, July 20, as the scheduled festival.

Organisers, Future Sound Asia confirmed that the central agency for foreign artist permits (Puspal) informed them of the restriction on concerts featuring international acts on that day.

"Due to the nature of GVF, which involves multiple touring acts over several days, rescheduling the festival is not possible. As a result, Future Sound Asia is announcing the cancellation of the festival.

"All GVF ticket purchasers will automatically receive full refunds through the payment method used for their purchase,” the organiser said in a statement today.

The cancellation marks the second consecutive year for GVF.

GVF 2024 was supposed to take place at Resorts World Awana in Genting Highlands.

Among the slated performers were Alec Benjamin, Talitha, Peach Pit, Ylona Garcia, Joji, and Russ.

In 2023, the festival was called off after the opening day due to an incident involving British band The 1975's frontman, Matty.

Matty's criticism of Malaysia's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) laws and onstage actions led to the band's blacklisting in the country.
