It turned out to be an unforgettable night.

IN an epic celebration of rock music, Search KidDin brought the house down at Zepp KL in Jalan Hang Tuah, Kuala Lumpur, with their Gemuruh concert.

Held last Saturday, this highly anticipated event saw the dynamic duo of Nordin Mohd Taib (Din) and Hamzah Mohd Taib (Kid) making a powerful comeback, much to the delight of their fervent fans.

As someone who did not personally experience the legendary era of the iconic rock band Search, and admittedly does not identify as a true rock fan, I was more than thrilled to have my first concert experience with Search KidDin.

It turned out to be an unforgettable night. I have always been drawn to the sound of drums and electric guitars; there is something about these instruments that resonates with me deeply. The concert did not disappoint in this regard, as every band member on stage delivered remarkable performances.

It is astonishing to think that both Kid and Din, nearing 60 years old, performed with such energy and precision for two continuous hours. With every pluck of their fingers, each guitar riff seemed almost magical, producing electrifying sounds and music.

I was particularly captivated by Jovita Pearl; her voice and performance evoked memories of Malaysia's iconic rock queen, Ella. But, without a doubt, the star of the show was the main vocalist, Amir Masdi.

Initially, I did not know much about him and had little expectation, especially considering the challenge of living up to the standards set by Datuk Suhaimi Abdul Rahman (Amy Search).

However, Amir did not disappoint. He was charismatic, stylish and demonstrated great chemistry with the other band members. His interaction with the fans was equally impressive.

But what left me in awe was his singing. To perform high-pitched rock songs consistently for two hours is no easy feat, yet Amir's performance remained consistently outstanding.

Beyond the phenomenal performances, the unbridled enthusiasm of the 2,000-strong full-house crowd was truly a sight to behold. Most of the audience appeared to be over 30, with some looking like they were in their 50s and 60s, all dressed as true rockers.

It was heartwarming to see these men and women enjoying themselves, having lived through Search's rise to fame. They seemed to be reliving their youth, feeling young again.

In front of me were three men, likely in their 40s, who caught my attention with their sheer enjoyment of every minute of the concert. Singing along, hugging their friends, they were clearly reminiscing about their vibrant youth.

Everyone at Zepp KL seemed to share this sentiment. Search KidDin did more than just perform a rock concert; they reminded everyone of their beautiful, chaotic and fun-filled youth. It was undoubtedly a night to remember for all.

Organised by Big Stage Entertainment Channel in cooperation with My Muzik Sendiri Entertainment and redONE, the concert kicked off at 8pm and lasted for 150 electrifying minutes.

The performance featured Kid on lead guitar and Din on rhythm guitar, backed by drummer Min, bassist Rozaimie from Barbarik and charismatic vocalist Amir.

The star-studded event also included guest artists Ritz Metalasia, Muzza, Addy Cradle, Rozario Rasul, Ujang Exist, Fly Halizor and Jovita Pearl, the champion of X-Factor Indonesia Season 4. This lineup ensured a display of exceptional musical talent throughout the night.

A touching tribute to the late Yazit Ahmad, Search's iconic drummer who passed away in 2019, stood out as one of the concert's highlights.

The night ended on a high note, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next rock spectacle from KidDin. As the final chords echoed through the venue, it was evident that the spirit of rock 'n' roll was alive and well in Kuala Lumpur.
