IWK celebrates 30 years with inspiring charity theatre show ‘Najis Jadi Teman’

SHAH ALAM - In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) Sdn Bhd premiered its first charity community theatre show, ‘Najis Jadi Teman’ at Dewan Merbau, IWK Eco Park @ Pantai Dalam.
This heartfelt event was a collaboration with Wayang Kitchen and Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK). The show offered an immersive journey into the often-overlooked world of sewage treatment, highlighting the essential work of sewage workers.
Through theatre, dance and music, ‘Najis Jadi Teman’ explored the challenges faced by these workers, emphasising the importance of proper sanitation for public health and environmental preservation.
IWK’s chief executive officer Narendran Maniam, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting those in need while educating the public about sewerage management.
"Our highest priority has always been to support those in need while educating the public about the vital importance of sewerage management to protect and preserve our environment.
"As we celebrate our 30-year anniversary, we are excited to showcase our commitment to Malaysia’s overall well-being through meaningful and creative collaborations like this charity theatre,” he noted.
Narendran added that the show not only honoured IWK's three decades of service but also aimed to raise awareness and support for local communities.
Directed by theatrical expert Razif Hashim, the production featured renowned talents such as singer-songwriter Atilia Haron, actor Phraveen Arikiah and Alfred Loh, who portrayed IWK Plant Managers.
The show also included youths from Yayasan Chow Kit, an NGO supporting at-risk children and teenagers in Kuala Lumpur.
‘Najis Jadi Teman’ provided a multifaceted experience with catchy songs, interactive activities, and engaging acts, offering both entertainment and an opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause.
All ticket proceeds were directed to supporting Yayasan Chow Kit's initiatives for at-risk children and teenagers.
