LONDON - The original multi-coloured dancefloor from the film "Saturday Night Fever," where John Travolta danced as Tony Manero to the Bee Gees soundtrack, has topped an auction by selling for over £250,000 (US$317,000).
Julien’s Auctions, in collaboration with Turner Classic Movies (TCM), conducted the Hollywood Legends: Danger, Disaster, and Disco auction over four days, where the dancefloor was the top-selling item, fetching US$325,000 including buyer’s premium, reported PA Media/dpa.
"Saturday Night Fever excited the world once again in our sale of the film’s iconic dancefloor that stole the show in our exceptional Hollywood Legends auction,” said David Goodman, chief executive of Julien’s Auctions.
Other notable items sold include an Ark of the Covenant prototype from "Raiders Of The Lost Ark," which exceeded estimates at US$101,600, and Marilyn Monroe’s black evening dress, worn during a 1953 event with Joe DiMaggio, which sold for US$254,000.
Harry Potter wands used by Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, and Ralph Fiennes in the film franchise also fetched between US$19,050 and US$25,400, with Daniel Radcliffe’s wand from "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1" selling for US$16,250. - BERNAMA-PA MEDIA/dpa
