Sinar Harian takes home second and third prizes at MPI-Petronas Journalism Awards

KUALA LUMPUR - Sinar Harian wins second place for the Best Page Layout Award at the 2023 Malaysia Press Institute (MPI) - Petronas Malaysian Journalism Awards, tonight.

The page layout was created by Hazemi Nazahar with the title "Malam Kemuncak Final Piala Malaysia."

This victory saw Hazemi bringing home a cash prize of RM3,000 along with a certificate.

Hazemi said the MPI award was highly anticipated in his career as a graphic designer.

"Previously, I had submitted two entries, but it was unsuccessful. However, my submission in 2023 finally paid off.

"I managed to clinch second place for the Best Page Layout Award. I will strive to do even better in the future," he said at the 2024 Malaysian Journalism Night held at Majestic Hotel, here, tonight.

The Malay-language daily newspaper also secured third place for Best News Reporting.

The reports entitled "Lepas Azab Jadi Hamba, Jadi Scammer 19 Jam Sehari", "Angkara Sampah Dari Langit" and "Gaji Tinggi Tapi Tiada Sambutan" were prepared by Mukhriz Mat Husin.

Mukhriz took home a cash prize of RM2,000 along with a certificate.

"I could not have achieved this recognition without the support of my colleagues at Karangkraf Group, from the journalists to the Editor-in-Chief.

"Nevertheless, I also cannot forget the support and motivation from my parents and family since the beginning of my career until now," he said.

Meanwhile, Sinar Daily was nominated among the top five in the Best Video Interview Category for "Abused and Vulnerable: Are the Children Safe."

The video interview focused on abuse cases involving children and the pressing need to address the issue immediately and effectively.

Also present at the event were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, MPI president Datuk Yong Soo Heong and Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
